As commercial and national security interests extend into cislunar space, Cambridge-based Lunar Station Corp. is utilizing six decades of NASA planetary science data to map lunar surface conditions, identify strategic landing sites, and model environmental hazards. By fusing disparate orbital datasets—including imagery from NASA’s Ames Stereo Pipeline and impact data from the Lunar Crater Observation and Sensing Satellite (LCROSS)—the firm is deploying its proprietary MoonHacker platform to generate high-resolution 3D terrain models and identify shallow deposits of critical in-situ resources such as water ice, iron, and titanium.
The platform integrates geospatial analytics with digital twin technology to streamline mission planning and asset survivability. Through its Radiation Simulator, operators construct electronic replicas of rovers, landers, and orbital assets to evaluate radiation shielding requirements prior to deployment. Furthermore, the system analyzes surface topography to identify optimal rover traversal paths, assess landing pad locations, and design relay communication architectures for operations in communications-shadowed polar regions and the far side of the Moon.
