The General Services Administration (GSA) has reinstated Pete Waterman as Director of the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) following a brief administrative leave. Waterman, who was named FedRAMP’s first formal director in over three years in August 2024, also resumes his position as acting deputy director of GSA’s Technology Transformation Services (TTS). Throughout his tenure, Waterman has led the execution of the administration’s "FedRAMP 20x" initiative—a foundational effort to streamline, modernize, and accelerate cloud security authorization timelines for commercial vendors supporting federal and defense-adjacent mission networks.
Simultaneously, GSA announced a major consolidation of federal executive authority under Sam Corcos. A Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) veteran and the current Chief Information Officer for the Department of the Treasury, Corcos has been tapped to simultaneously fill three key acting leadership roles within GSA. He will serve as acting director of TTS, acting deputy commissioner for the Federal Acquisition Service (FAS), and acting assistant administrator for Login.gov. Corcos takes over leadership at TTS from outgoing Federal CIO Greg Barbaccia, who is stepping down to return to the private sector at Palantir.
