The U.S. Air Force has finalized awards for its Next Generation Aerospace Ground Equipment contract, selecting 24 defense contractors for a multiple-award vehicle valued at up to $920 million over 10 years. Selected from a field of 66 proposals, the awardee pool features a balance of major defense primes such as Lockheed Martin, Booz Allen Hamilton, and Oshkosh, alongside specialized engineering and logistics firms including HDT, Torch Technologies, and Knight Aerospace. Work under the vehicle will proceed through an initial two-year base period followed by four two-year option terms.
The contract establishes a centralized procurement path to design, develop, integrate, and test modernized ground support hardware across the entire Air Force platform portfolio. Task orders issued under the vehicle will directly support launch, recovery, and ongoing maintenance for fighter jets, strategic bombers, aerial refueling tankers, tactical transports, and uncrewed aerial systems worldwide. As the service branch operationalizes Agile Combat Employment concepts—which demand rapid deployment to austere locations—legacy aerospace ground equipment must be systematically upgraded to be more expeditionary, lighter, and resilient.
